Holiday in Dorset

We went for a short holiday last week in the caravan, staying near Lyme Regis. We celebrated Lucy's half birthday while we were away. We visited Weymouth one day & caught up with Paula & Rich, meeting Jessica, their little girl.

It was a blustery few days & we were very relieved to come home with our awning intact as others on our campsite we not so fortunate.

Lucy's first week on solids

At the beginning of this week we made the decision to start Lucy on solids. She will be 6months old next week (where has that gone!?!?) so it was near enough...

Despite what the picture may appear to show we didn't start with veg...milky baby rice is proving a success on 2nd attempt...pureed apple & pear gave mixed results & I don't know if any was swallowed .

Steamed carrot seems to be a hit...not all of it came back out & it was very amusing watching her suck on it.

As for the broccoli....

...it was good for playing with...

...for distracting Lucy so we could get the spoon in her mouth without the hands getting in the way...

...for bashing with her cup...

...& for flying through the air.

None went in but hey! It's all messy fun.

Trains & Boats & Planes...

Early in May, having finally gotten Lucy's passport sorted we planned to go to Dublin for a week to spend time with family & meet a few more people. Sounds simple enough... Mum flew over the evening before so that I (Fi) had help with Lucy on her 1st flight as we had no idea how she would get on with it.

On the morning we were due to fly I was woken by text messages from people warning me that due to ash the airports were closed. Mum & I made a quick decision - that if we could be packed quickly we should try to go & get a train to Fishguard & catch a ferry!

So by the end of the trip Lucy had chalked up most forms of transport & had met lots more family.

New Arrival

Sorry it has taken a while to get this blog post up... we have had a bit of a distraction...
We are now the proud parent to our beautiful baby Lucy!
She was born on the 15th of January 2010 at 8:15am (Fiona's 30th Birthday...what a birthday present!!). She weighed 6lb04oz.
She took us a bit by surprise as we thought she would be an other week or so. She was only 3 days before her due date but we had ourselves convinced that she'd be late...she obviously was eager to join the party.

Here are a few pictures from her first few days.

New Year celebrations

This year we spent new years eve with the Richardsons.
We had lots of fun, eating, chatting, playing on the wii and just generally being silly.

We stayed overnight and joined more friends later for a walk at Blaise Castle
